A PLACE ONCE CALLED HOME
A PLACE ONCE CALLED HOME
placethe rolling hills, the pine trees
a home away from home
resembling our name
pine trees lining the roads
the openness beckoning you
one more step, just one more
I wrote essays about this…
standing on top of the world the mountainsbearing witness to all us passing through
see the grasslands?
the colour of the sand ?
see the plato in the distance?
the line where heaven descends?
far below the river still flows that carved this valley
looking out over the world,
over the edge
the stillness of the rocks engulfs you
the little yellow flowers enchant
the climb to a higher ground
to reach
that openness
the sound of water flowing over rocks
I miss it
sometimes
But it is not home
it never really was
it is even less now
I was ever only a visitor
even though it felt like I could stay
forever
